City of Galena becomes the Tenth Bird City of Illinois

On Monday, August 12, the City of Galena received recognition as a Bird City! Coordinated by the Audubon Council of Illinois, the Bird City Illinois program celebrates municipalities that "demonstrate an active and ongoing commitment to the protection and conservation of bird populations and their habitats." Galena is the tenth municipality in Illinois to receive the recognition, joining Rockford, Waukegan, Freeport, Grayslake, Libertyville, Evanston, St. Charles, Lake Bluff, and Homewood.

Congratulations to Mayor Terry Renner and the community leaders that worked on this initiative!
