Village of Homewood becomes the Ninth Bird City of Illinois

On July 17, 2024, the Village of Homewood, Illinois received recognition as a Bird City! Coordinated by the Audubon Council of Illinois, the Bird City Illinois program celebrates municipalities that "demonstrate an active and ongoing commitment to the protection and conservation of bird populations and their habitats." Homewood is the ninth municipality in Illinois to receive the recognition, joining Rockford, Waukegan, Freeport, Grayslake, Libertyville, Evanston, St. Charles, and Lake Bluff.

Congratulations to Mayor Richard Hofeld, Village Trustees, and all the volunteers that contributed to this initiative, including Thorn Creek Audubon Society.
